*69 Poker League

The *69 Poker League is an Austin, TX area poker league in its *EIGHTH* season. It's kinda like a bowling league... only a lot less shitty... and with cheaper beer.

Season 6 Starts Tonite at 8pm!

After a looong hiatus, we're back! More stats, more points, more action! The format of the league isn't too different from Seasons 1 through 5, but there are some changes. Some big, some small. Be sure to check out the rules for the complete lowdown. Especially read the complete rules if you haven't played in a *69 Poker League game before. It'll answer most any question you may have about the game.

Here's a sample of the bigger changes:

New Rules/Changes:

  • All Players will buy in for just $10 at the start of each game. If you bust (and only if you bust,) you may rebuy into the cash game for an amount UP TO the largest stack at the table rounded down to the nearest $10. So if you bust and someone has $35 dollars, you can rebuy for $10, $20 or a max of $30.
  • Blinds are always 10c/20c.
  • The player with the most points at the end of the season will be named 'Player of the Season' and receive $100* from the Season Pot. The player with the second amount of points will be the runner-up and receive $50*.
  • NO Bad Beat Jackpot, it all goes to PotS awards and CIT money.
  • The top 8 players will then be invited to a no-charge Championship Invitational Tournament (CIT) where they will compete for the remainder of Season Pot. The CIT will pay out to the top 4 finishers approximately as follows: 1st - 40% of the remaining funds in the Season Pot, 2nd - 30%, 3rd - 20%, 4th 10%.
  • Each time a player shows up to play, they will earn bonus points just for showing up and playing. This is to encourage players to play more often. If you show up on time, you get 10 bonus points! If you show up late, you get 5 bonus points. Note: If, at the time you sign up, you inform me that you're going to be arriving at a specific, later time, then you can still get the full 10 bonus points.
  • The top 8 players that qualify for the CIT will receive tournament chips equal to 3 times their points at the end of the season (rounded to the nearest chip.) This rule is to encourage people to play through the end of the season rather than stop playing for fear of losing points. Remember, the more points you have, the more chips you get for the CIT!
  • Kill Blinds/Pots - If a player wins a pot that is $10 or more, this will be a Kill Pot. The player then will be required to put in 50 cents as a Kill Blind. The remaining players then have to match at least 50 cents to come into the game or they can raise to 80 cents or more. The player putting in the Kill Blind has last to act option if no one raises his Kill Blind.

I will be doing a weekly podcast based on the week's events in poker so check back here often.

So... in other words, every pot will be a Kill Pot.

If that happens, I'll raise the requirements to $20 for a kill pot. The Kill Pot rule is still being tested.
