New Season 5 Stats

Two things... the season 5 stats are up... and we already had someone hit the Bad Beat Jackpot!

Wow, that didn't take long. In fact, that was a little too quick. I may up the requirements to win the BBJ if we hit another one too soon. Perhpas a least Jacks full or better? Cuz 3's full of Aces... isn't really a bad beat is it?

Anyway, you can see a picture of the BBJ winning hands by clicking on the link under the Bad Beats tab of the spreadsheet.

Out.

Some thoughts about the BBJ and New $2 Contribution

The extra .25 cents on a pot the size of the last one (Season 4 had $314) would amount to a 25% increase in the season pot ($392.50). This allows me to up the prize for the Player of the Season from $70 to $90 and give out $40 to 2nd place in points which has never been done before... AND still up the prize pool for the CIT #5.

$314 + 25% increase ($1.25 insteadof $1.00 per person) = $392.50
$392.50 - $90 (1st place in points) - $40 (2nd place in points) = $262.50 left for CIT #4

$262.50 * 45% = $118.13 = $120 for 1st in CIT #5
$262.50 * 25% = $65.63 = $67.50 for 2nd in CIT #5
$262.50 * 20% = $52.50 = $50 for 3rd in CIT #5
$262.50 * 10% = $26.20 = $25 for 4th in CIT #5

All those are higher payouts for every place than for CIT #4. Just for 25 cents more. AND you reward the players that show consistency throughout the season more.

I would hate to put more emphasis on the CIT payout, because as we all saw this past Saturday... ANYTHING can happen... this is poker after all. To put so much at stake on a single game isn't a good way to reward good players. If anything, we should give the $25 for CIT 4th place instead to 3rd in points standings and only pay out the top 3 at CIT #5.

The 75 cents for the BBJ is just for fun. It's exciting and totally random. Every single casino and many underground poker clubs all run a BBJ. If you guys aren't totally into it, I can move over more of the $2 to the Season Pot... i.e $1.50 for the Season Pot and 50 cents for the BBJ.

Any thoughts?

Season 5 Starts Tonite!

A New Season Begins...

There are a few new changes to the rules for Season #5. The most notable is the addition of a Bad Beat Jackpot, the paying out of the 1st *and* 2nd highest points getters, and upping of the one-time-a-night contribution to the Season/Bad Beat Jackpot to $2 instead of $1.

Check out the rules for more information.

Since I had lost a small pot at the start of the game, and Claire had won enough chips to barely overtake the chip lead, I lost all my chips just like that. Two of the best players gone in a flash. What a crock...

Well, on the bright side, Season 5's on its way! It starts tomorrow! I'll post a bit more about Season 5 later today.
