*69 Poker League

The *69 Poker League is an Austin, TX area poker league in its *EIGHTH* season. It's kinda like a bowling league... only a lot less shitty... and with cheaper beer.

Stats Updated... Robert slipping?!?

I'm not sure when the last time it's happened, but Claire swept all three games of Week 4. How very lucky impressive! Her 200+ points per week average for the last two weeks have now made her enough points to surpass Robert for 1st place. I find it quite interesting that two vastly different styles have managed to separate themselves from the rest of the pack. While Robert errs on the side of caution, Claire throws caution to the wind. I still believe that a more balanced approach will win out in the end. ;)

In other news, with a decent cashout on Saturday, Aaron has moved into position to enter the Elite 8. He's currently sitting in 9th place, 13 points short of Max and Banni. Speaking of Banni, she earned 5 points this week to pull into 7th place by a fraction of a point. Max and Sadlo contintue to be lame, and finally, Jet managed not to cash out over $250 for two games in a row this week.

Lastly, there is a new rule being added this week. It's regarding talking about the hand if you're not in it.

- Players that do not hold live cards cannot speak about the current hand. This includes talking about what you folded, what cards you think other players are holding, suggestions to a player on how to play a hand ('You should call him. He's bluffing!'), or what the possibilities are with the current board ('Wow, someone just made their flush!') There will be no warnings. The penalty will be one big blind to the current pot if you break this rule. Anybody can object, but Rob will make the final decision on whether the rule was broken or not. If Rob is not present, a table consensus will suffice.

Saturday's Game

What?!? No Brisket?!? Nope. But I will be putting out Fajitas and Sausage and homemade Salsa!

Sides are appreciated, but not required. How about Potato Salad, Chips, Desserts (Karen... Rice Krispie Treats?), non-diet sodas and beer? Sure. Why not? If you are bringing a side, let me know.

AND... NEW FELT! Yes, I'm leaving to buy new felt right now. :)

In stats news, Jet had vaulted up to #2 after his very first game with a ridiculously huge cashout last Saturday. He came back to Earth on Tuesday, but still managed to make 5 points. Claire, having been knocked down to 3rd, has bounced back up to 2nd with Tuesday's cashout. She's now within striking distance of Robert's 1st place. In other top 8 action, Banni managed to hold on to 8th place while Jet knocked Judy out of the top 8 for now. There's still 8 weeks of poker to play, so don't get discouraged, but you can't win if you don't play! So signup for more games!

Stats Updizated

I've entered in the stats for Thu and Sat in the spreadsheet. Take a look at them by clicking on the link on the right hand side of this page. You might have to hit Reload/Refresh on your browser in order to see the updated stats.

Please take a good look at your personal stats. Make sure they are 100% right if you can. I'm still tweaking the spreadsheet. Please keep in mind that the Points have decimal places that you cannot see and they do add up over time. So if you're off by 1 point, that's why... the decimal places are fucking with you... < .5 rounds down and > .5 rounds up to the next point. If you're way off, contact me immediately, and I'll try to figure out why and fix it ASAP.

Stats Update and Signups for Thursday's Game

I reworked a lot of the formulas and crap under the covers on the stats spreadsheet. You won't notice anything, but trust me, I made it a lot easier to input data as well as a lot harder to fuck up stuff. So what does that mean? Quicker stats updates with a lesser chance of any errors. Love me.

Poker and BBQ... Ahh, feels good not to be sick!

I'm finally almost mostly rid of that nasty Spring cold. Blech. You know that if I miss a night of poker... in my own house... that I'm pretty damn sick. But Friday was better and today's looking ever better. Could it be that a 7 day cold actually goes away in 7 days?

Anyway, now that I'm feeling better, I've updated the stats. Sorry for no Podcast this week, but seriously, I couldn't even play cards, much less record a show. ;)

To make up for it... I'm cooking up another BBQ Brisket for you guys! Hope you aren't sick of it yet, cuz I luvs me some briskets. Donations of non-diet soda (pfft) and beer are welcome. We'll provide the rest.

Saturday's Results

What a strange night. 10 players for 5 hours, and no one lost more than $10, and no one went negative. I'm not sure that has ever happened in any of the 5 previous seasons. You guys must've been playing extra soft. I was only part of the game for about 90 minutes. That might have been it. ;)

And yes, the stats have been updated.

New Stats Up and Signups for Thursdays Game

Well, the stats for the first game are now up! It was small showing, but somehow $363 ended up on the table. T-Gun's incredible suck out powers were ineffective versus Robert's suck-out kryptonite. People kept getting all in with him when he had monsters like a flopped set of Kings (vs. T-Gun's flopped 2 pair) or Pocket Aces (vs. Claire's KK) pre-flop. Plus, Robert's so tight he could turn coal into diamonds with one mighty clench of his butt cheeks. It's gonna be a fun season!

Check out the League Stats link on the right side. *Update* I fixed some calculation errors. I forgot to give bonus points (10 for being on time and only 5 for being late,) and I also was taking off full points instead of half points for every dollar down. It's all fixed now though.

Season 6 Starts Tonite at 8pm!

After a looong hiatus, we're back! More stats, more points, more action! The format of the league isn't too different from Seasons 1 through 5, but there are some changes. Some big, some small. Be sure to check out the rules for the complete lowdown. Especially read the complete rules if you haven't played in a *69 Poker League game before. It'll answer most any question you may have about the game.

Here's a sample of the bigger changes:

New Rules/Changes:

  • All Players will buy in for just $10 at the start of each game. If you bust (and only if you bust,) you may rebuy into the cash game for an amount UP TO the largest stack at the table rounded down to the nearest $10. So if you bust and someone has $35 dollars, you can rebuy for $10, $20 or a max of $30.
  • Blinds are always 10c/20c.
  • The player with the most points at the end of the season will be named 'Player of the Season' and receive $100* from the Season Pot. The player with the second amount of points will be the runner-up and receive $50*.
  • NO Bad Beat Jackpot, it all goes to PotS awards and CIT money.
  • The top 8 players will then be invited to a no-charge Championship Invitational Tournament (CIT) where they will compete for the remainder of Season Pot. The CIT will pay out to the top 4 finishers approximately as follows: 1st - 40% of the remaining funds in the Season Pot, 2nd - 30%, 3rd - 20%, 4th 10%.
  • Each time a player shows up to play, they will earn bonus points just for showing up and playing. This is to encourage players to play more often. If you show up on time, you get 10 bonus points! If you show up late, you get 5 bonus points. Note: If, at the time you sign up, you inform me that you're going to be arriving at a specific, later time, then you can still get the full 10 bonus points.
  • The top 8 players that qualify for the CIT will receive tournament chips equal to 3 times their points at the end of the season (rounded to the nearest chip.) This rule is to encourage people to play through the end of the season rather than stop playing for fear of losing points. Remember, the more points you have, the more chips you get for the CIT!
  • Kill Blinds/Pots - If a player wins a pot that is $10 or more, this will be a Kill Pot. The player then will be required to put in 50 cents as a Kill Blind. The remaining players then have to match at least 50 cents to come into the game or they can raise to 80 cents or more. The player putting in the Kill Blind has last to act option if no one raises his Kill Blind.

I will be doing a weekly podcast based on the week's events in poker so check back here often.
